Carroll "CV" Dashiell III

It was Marcus Baylor of the Yellowjackets who first told us to keep an eye on CV Dashiell. Still in his early 20s, this phenomenal young drummer is a rapidly rising star on the Washington, DC jazz scene. In demand for a steady stream of performances, CV is a truly exceptional jazz fusion player, but he thrives on a wide variety of music genres from classical to big band. He appeared at Carnegie Hall at the age of 14 as the featured drummer and soloist with the East Carolina University Jazz Ensemble, and has performed with Bobby Watson, Terell Stafford and Bob Mintzer. CV was the drummer for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Congressional Black Caucus Awards Dinner Television Shows, backing artists Sheryl Lee Ralph, Isaiah Washington, Stephanie and Marlon Jordan, Alfre Woodard, Avery Brooks, Regina Bell, Phil Perry, Gabriel Union and Louis Gossett, Jr. He was also the house drummer for the 2006 and 2007 International Association of Jazz Educators Annual Conference Vocal Jam Session. Meanwhile, he's completing his studies as an honors student at Howard University with a major in Jazz Studies (where he was the 2006 and 2008 Zildjian Scholarship recipient and performs with several ensembles), coaching a high school drumline and drumming at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He also performs regularly with his father, bassist Carroll V. Dashiell, Jr. and the CVD Ensemble. In 2015, he performed in four Caribbean countries with the Brent Birckhead Quartet's jazz tour.

Frankly, we're not sure when CV has time to sleep. All we know is we love to kick back in a small jazz club and listen to him play drums.
